The arms of the then 3rd Marquess of Ailsa in his capacity as the Earl of Cassillis in the Peerage of Scotland (Oct 1509 ) for the entry under Cassillis on pp 444-502 in Volume II of "The Scots Peerage" ( 4th Edition), Sir James Balfour Paul, Editor, 1905, David Douglas publisher, Edinburgh. Of interest here is the illustration is a rendition by Mr. Graham Johnston, Heraldic Artist to the Court of the Lord Lyon who is considered one of the great heraldic artists. The artist's signature mark and initials may be viewed in the bottom left of the image. The image, unfortunately showing its age, is from our own copy of The Scots Peerage".
