Louis LaRavoire Morrow, was born on 24 December 1892, Christmas Eve, at Weatherford, TX, to Joseph LaRavoire ( French) and Isabel Morrow ( Irish-American). He had an elder brother, Frank and a younger sister, Margaret. The family moved to Mexico when Louis was five.

Vocation: in 1903 at age 11, he entered the Salesians boarding school in Puebla, Mexico City and became a novice in 1911. On 21 May 1921 he was ordained a Priest of the Salesian Order of St. John Bosco. He became a popular retreat director, a prolific author and publisher of Catholic catechetical and school text books.

Morrow was appointed as Bishop of Krishnagar, India 25 May 1939 by Pope Pius XII. The Pope on 29 Oct 1939, was the Principal Consecrator of Bishop Morrow. For the next 30 years. Bishop Morrow worked with great zeal as a pastor and missionary. He got involved as a Commissioner of Krishnagar Municipality, visited prisons, extended Catholic relief, was a consultant to the Red Cross and founded the Sisters of Mary Immaculate in 1948.

He also somehow found time to write and publish “My Catholic Faith” in English in 1949. This book, a concise work on the doctrines and practices of the Catholic Church has been revised from time to time and reprinted right up to the current day. We received our copy when we were confirmed in 1952 from our favorite aunt. We still refer to it as our needs dictate.

Bishop Morrow retired on 31 Oct 1969 and died on 31 August 1987 at age 94 and is buried in the cathedral of Krishnagar. R.I.P.
