Of Toberchurn. In the matriculation of these arms on 20 April 1960, it is interesting to note that Sir Iain Moncreiffe acted for the Duke in this matter before Sir Thomas Innes of Learnery then the Lord Lyon.

Bruce George Ronald Murray, 12th Duke of Atholl, was born on 12 April 1960 to
John Murray, 11th Duke of Atholl and Margaret Yvonne Leach as their elder son.
He was born and educated in South Africa and did his military service there. He married Lynne Elizabeth Andrew in 1984 (div. 2003) and have three children: Michael Murray, Marquess of Tullibardine born in 1985, Lord David Murray, born in 1986 and Lady Nicole Murray born in 1987.

In 2003, the Duke married secondly Charmaine Myrna du Toit.

As the Duke of Atholl he has the right to raise Europe’s only legal private army, The Atholl Highlanders, a unique privilege granted by Queen Victoria in 1844.

Upon the death of his father on 15 May 2012, he succeeded to the Dukedom of Atholl and all the other associated titles and became Chief of Clan Murray.
