SOURCE, NOTES & CREDITS: The blazon is from page 96, of “Russian Heraldry and Nobility by Donald R. Mandich and Joseph A. Placek, Dramco Publishers, Boynton Beach FL, USA, 1992. The B&W image for background is from the same source, from page 521. The blazon given in the “Armorial General” and attendant B&W illustration given in Rolland are incorrect. The text is from the Russian source noted above, page 298, and from personal knowledge of and from discussions with the armiger.

The late COL Ingvar-Erich Lantzky ( alternative spelling Lanskoy ) an armiger born in 1945 represented an Estonian Russian family ennobled in the Russian Empire in 1582 and granted noble fiefs in Estonia at that time. One Lanskoy ancestor was an Imperial Russian general under Alexander I and one of the leaders who chased the Grand Army of Napoleon out of the Russian Empire.

COL Lantzky retired from the US Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel of Special Forces and held the rank of Colonel in the VCA. He was sponsored into the VCA by the late COL Jack Pershing another USAR Green Beret who was the grandson of General of the Armies John J. Pershing, USA. Ivan was one of the very few who held the VCA Distinguished Shooter Badge for both Pistol and Rifle. He served in and commanded units in Vietnam. Ivan was a friend of many years standing who died on 6 August 2015 at the age of 70. Pray for his soul. dqw 2015 0806
