Thomas Francis Dermot Pakenham, 8th Earl of Longford
Arms: Quarterly:1st, per quarter Or and Gules, in the first quarter an eagle displayed Vert
( Pakenham); 2nd, Argent, on a bend indented Sable cotised Azure, three Fleurs-de-lis Argent, each cotise charged with three bezants ( Cuff ); 3rd, Ermine, a griffin sergeant Azure, armed and langued Gules, beaked Or (Aungier ); 4th, Per bend crenellée Argent and Gules ( Boyle ).
The Earl does not use his title and is known simply as Thomas Pakenham and is an Anglo-Irish historian and arborist, born August 14, 1933, age 84. He has an heir and a spare:
Edward Melchior Pakenham, Lord Silchester, born 6 January 1970 and The Hon. Frederick Augustus Pakenham, born 27 November 1971. Thomas is the son of the 7th
Earl, Frank Pakenham, he has seven siblings, the oldest of whom is his elder sister:
Lady Antonia Margaret Caroline Pakenham Fraser, CH, DBE FRSL,
who was born 27 August 1932, age 85. It is Lady Antonia who is our main subject of interest having been just appointed as a Member of the Companions of Honour in the latest New Years Honours 2018.
