Arms: Argent, an oak tree Proper fructed Or growing out of a mound in base Vert, surmounted of a fess brettessed the crenelles semicircular, Purpure, charged with an hourglass Or.
Alan Watson born 25 Nov 1970 and died 27 Feb 2020, age 49. He
came from and lived in Falkirk but was an actuary with an Edinburgh firm.
Alan was a long time secretary of the Heraldry Society of Scotland from about 1998 to 2020.
He was in character unflappable and impassive, though he smiled too. His main interest was philately, and if there was a clash of dates the stamps always won.
He had a grant of arms from the Lord Lyon dating to the early 2000s.
Alan was unmarried and is survived by his father and a brother.
The artwork is a rendition by Mark Dennis and is reproduced here with his permission.
