0002ccr Heraldry Society of Scotland (HHS)
Arms: Azure on a saltire between in pale two thistles slipped and leaved Argent an escutcheon Gules.

The Heraldry Society of Scotland (HSS) was pretty much founded on 12 Feb 1977 at a meeting in the Library of the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland in Edinburgh. The persons present were members of the Heraldry Society (in England) and other interested persons. In less than a year the number of HSS members rose to over 140 persons.
A petition was submitted to Lord Lyon Sir James Montieth Grant, KCVO, and arms were granted on 7 Sep 1977. The crest had to wait however, being granted on 6th Apr 1987.
We thought SSA members might enjoy this tidbit history of the HSS.

The artwork is representation by John Hamilton Gaylor.
