[01] The First Peers
Members of the Scots Peerage are Armigers Too !

Since our website is concerned with Scots armigers, we thought was time for a look at some of the members of the Peerage of Scotland.

Ever wonder who were the Premier Peers, who was the first peer in each grade and when were they created ?

SOURCES, NOTES and CREDITS: The sources used were the Wikipedia article on the “Peerage of Scotland” and Sir James Balfour Paul’s “The Scots Peerage”.

The arms chosen are what we believe the then new first peers used and have been illustrated with renditions from John H. Gaylor. In general, the arms have been taken from illustrations and blazons from Paul’s “The Scots Peerage” published between 1904 and 1914.

So follow along as we try to identify these early lords and upload their images and captions.
