Margaret Holland,LG born citca. 1385 was a medieval English noblewoman. She was a daughter of Thomas Holland, 2nd Earl of Kent, who was the son of Joan "the Fair Maid of Kent" (granddaughter of Edward I of England, wife of Edward the Black Prince and mother of Richard II of England). Margaret's mother was Alice FitzAlan, daughter of Richard FitzAlan, 10th Earl of Arundel and Eleanor of Lancaster.
Margaret married John Beaufort, 1st Earl of Somerset, the eldest son of John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford legimized in 1397. They had six children and when John Beaufort died in 1410, she married his nephew, Thomas of Lancaster, Duke of Clarence (1387-1421), they had no children and she Died 30 December 1439, age about 54
Margaret Holland"s eldest daughter Joan Beaufort (circa. 1403-1437)
married James I of Scotland then Sir James Stewart, the black Knight of Lorn.
Margaret's second son, John Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset (1404-1444)
In 1439 he married Margaret Beauchamp, a daughter of Sir John Beauchamp, By his wife he had an only daughter and sole heiress:Lady Margaret Beaufort (1443-1509), who married Edmund Tudor, 1st Earl of Richmond (1430-1456) by whom she was the mother of King Henry VII, the first of the Tudor dynasty.
So, John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford's through their son John Beaufort and his wife Margaret Holland provided the monarchs from Henry VII in England and Mary Queen of Scots of Scotland right down to the Elizabeth II and the United Kingdom of today.
