04. Rothesay Herald's Badge
The Badge of Rothesay Herald.

The The blazon of the badge is: Two fleurs-de-lys Gules surmounted of a three point label chequy Azure and Argent and ensigned of the Crown of Scotland Proper.

Liam Devlin was appointed Rothesay Herald on 1 September 2021.

The last person to hold the position of Rothesay Pursuivant before Liam Devlin was Sir Crispin Agnew, Bt., LVO, 1986-2021. Earlier recent notable holders of the office were Lord Lyon Sir Francis James Grant, KCVO, 1898-1929 and Lt. Col. Harold Andrew Balvaird Lawson, CVO, 1939-1985.

The office was created after 1398 when the dukedom of Rothesay was conferred on David, eldest son of King Robert II, on 28 April 1398. This was the first ducal creation ever granted in Scotland. The badge was devised by Sir Thomas Innes of Learney in 1952 and registered in July 1986.

The artwork is an interpretation of John Hamilton Gaylor.
