Bishop John Brendan McCormack the 9th Bishop of Manchester, NH was born 12 Aug 1935 in Winthrop, MA. He was ordained on 2 Feb 1960, a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston, by Richard James Cardinal Cushing. On 21 Nov 1995 he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Boston, MA by Pope John Paul II. Bishop McCormack’s Principal Consecrator was Bernard Francis Cardinal Law.

Bishop McCormack was appointed as the 9th Bishop of Manchester, NH on 31 Jul 1998 succeeding Bishop O’Neil who had died on 30 Nov 1997. Bishop McCormack served as the Bishop of Manchester, NH until retirement at age 76 on 19 Sep 2011. He lived in retirement in Manchester, NH until his death at on 21 Sep 2021 at age 86.
