Helm: befitting his degree with mantling Gules doubled Argent

Crest a grey demi-catamountain salient, on his sinister foreleg

James Hughston McBain of McBain, Chief of Clan McBean, was recognized by the Lord Lyon and matriculated arms at LO in 1977. Born in 1928 the only son of Hughston Maynard McBain of McBain and Margaret Keith. He married firstly, Mollie Yost with whom he has two daughters and secondly, Margaret Stephenson by whom he has a son Richard James McBain of McBain, Younger.
Due to his great age, the Lord Lyon confirmed the appointment of his son Richard McBain of McBain, Ygr., heir-apparent, as Acting Chief.
