Boswell Bookplate
A lovely new bookplate recently received by Wm. Boswell of Toberchurn rendered by Gordon MacPherson of Canada, one of the world's most famous bookplate artists. The insignia is that of a Knight Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. The inscription reads from Latin as ORD EQ = of the equestrian or knightly order; TRIB = tribune (in this case colonel); PRAEFEC MUNI = mayor; and DOC IUR = doctor of law (JD or Juris Doctor); in 2013 Col Boswell subsequently received an LLD (Legum Doctor = Doctor of Laws) honoris causa. dqw 20110811
