The Hon. Adam Robert Bruce, WS, OStJ was born in 1968, is the 2nd son of the 11th Earl of Elgin, KT, graduated from Oxford and Edinburgh Universities, is a Writer to HM Signet, a member of the Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, The Royal Company of Archers. Bruce married in 2003, Donna Maria Sofia Giovanna Rose younger daughter of Don Angelo Granito Pignatelli di Belmonte, 13th Prince of Belmonte, and have two sons, Robert Frederick Angelo born in 2007 and Orlando Antonio Andrew born in 2008.

Bruce was appointed Finlaggan Pursuivant (private officer of arms to the Chief of Clan Donald in 2005), He was appointed as an Officer of Arms at the Court of the Lord Lyon as Unicorn Pursuivant in 2008 and Marchmont Herald in 2012. He is also a Trustee of the St. Andrews Fund for Scots Heraldry since 1995 and was appointed an Officer of the Most Venerable Order of St. John in 2014. Bruce is also a Scottish businessman in the renewable energy industry.

The last person to hold the position of Marchmont Herald before the Hon. Adam Bruce was Major David Maitland Maitland-Titterton 1982-1988
