Stig Axel Fridolf Jägerskiöld born on 20 April 1911, died in 1997, was a professor and in later life an author, best known for his eight volume biography of his cousin, Marshal of Finland, Gustaf Mannerheim ( 8 volumes in both Swedish and Finnish and a one volume reprise in English ). Also, an ancestor of his, Carl Ludvig Jägerskiöld, a Lieutenant in the Swedish Navy, married Catherine Pellew circa. 1786, a sister of Sir Edward Pellew, 1st Viscount Exmouth, from whom descend all the extant Swedish and Finnish members of the Jägerskiöld family.
