Born 19 Feb 1865, the nobility granted to Sven Anders Hedin by King Oscar II was the
last nobilitation of the Kingdom of Sweden and took place in 1902, he was given noble
No. 2344, and was introduced in 1904. Usually the diploma included both the
ennoblement and the arms granted, but in this case King Oscar specifically granted the
nobility and allowed the recipient to design his own arms after. Sven Hedin was, even at
age 37, a famous explorer of Asia. He died on 26 Nov 1952, age 87, without issue. dqw
