Liam Devlin was appointed Unicorn Pursuivant in Ordinary at the Court of the Lord Lyon on 6 January 2016. Previously he was Linlithgow Pursuivant Extraordinary 2014-2016.

Liam Devlin was appointed Rothesay Herald on 1 September 2021.

The last person to hold the position of Rothesay Pursuivant before Liam Devlin was Sir Crispin Agnew, Bt., LVO, 1986-2021. Earlier recent notable holders of the office were Lord Lyon Sir Francis James Grant, KCVO, 1898-1929 and Lt. Col. Harold Andrew Balvaird Lawson, CVO, 1939-1985.
