Connery, Sir Sean
Sir Thomas Sean Connery died in his sleep on 31 Oct 2020 in the Bahamas at age 90.

He was born on 25 Aug 1930 in Edinburgh with his first job as a milkman for St Cuthbert’s Co-operative Society also in Edinburgh. He then did a stint in the Royal Navy after which he worked as a lorry driver, lifeguard and laborer and backed into the stage and acting for extra income. By 1954 he was in movies as an extra. And then better and bigger parts started coming to him..

In 1962 he was picked to play James Bond in “Dr. No” which made him famous. He went on to play 007 in six more Bond movies: “From Russia with Love” 1963, “Goldfinger” 1964, “Thunderball” 1965, “You Only Live Twice” 1967, “Diamonds are Forever” 1971 and ending with “Never Say Never Again” in 1983.

He went on to star in many good films such as “The Man Who Would Be King”
1975, “The Wind and the Lion” 1975, “The Untouchables” 1987, from which he won an Oscar, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” 1989, “ The Hunt for Red October 1990 and so on.

He became rich and created a foundation and became involved with philanthropy. On 5 July 2000 at age 69, fully kilted out he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth at Holyrood Palace as a Knight Bachelor. Subsequently, he petitioned for arms and was keen that the symbols used covered his various interests, Scotland, golf, the arts, Scottish dogs and of course acting. The central figure and charge on the shield is an Oscar. Due to his considerable philanthropic work the Lord Lyon granted him supporters and a compartment. Sir Sean told Snawdoun Herald he was pleased with the supporters of the sea unicorns and palm trees reflecting both Scotland and the Bahamas surrounded by the sea.

The achievement is from the painting on the Letters Patent. We wish to thank Elizabeth Roads, Snawdoun Herald, for her considerable assistance.
