Arms: Quarterly, 1 and 4: Argent three bucks' heads erased Gules attired Or within a bordure counter compony Or and Sable (for Doyle); 2 and 3: Argent a fess between three trefoils slipped all within a bordure Sable(for Foley)

SOURCE, NOTES and CREDITS: His arms are arms of attribution based on those shown on a portrait of him in an internet Wikipedia article. However, it is believed the arms are Irish The blazon is by J. H. Gaylor, the illustration for background is from Wikipedia and the text by D. Q. Wedvick is adapted from the same and from page 734 of “Debrett’s Baronetage, Knightage & Companionage 1904”.

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, Kt. Bach., born on 22 May 1859 in Edinburgh to Charles Altamont Doyle born in England of Irish Catholic descent and Mary Foley an Irish Catholic. He was educated at Edinburgh University, receiving his M.D. in 1885, is probably best known for his Sherlock Holmes stories and books, however it is believed he was knighted in 1902 by Edward VII for his pamphlets and book, “The Great Boer War” in defense of the Boer War. He died on 7 July 1930, age 71.
