The MacDougalls are an ancient Scots clan claiming descent from Somerled. they are blood descendants in the male line from the ancient Lords of Galloway. The Lady Morag MacDougall is the probable 31st Chief of the MacDougalls of MacDougall and Dunollie, though not yet recognized by the Lord Lyon King of Arms (as of publication date of the LG.) The Lady Morag, b. 12 Nov 1939, m. 30 July 1966, Richard Morley, has issue, succeeded her aunt, Coline, on 3 May 1990. Her aunt, Coline Helen Elizabeth, succeeded her father as 30th chief of MacDougall and Dunollie and was the last Chief to receive a Matriculation of arms from LO on 12 Oct 1953, in Volume 39, page 112 of the “Public Register of All Arms and Bearings in Scotland”. It is believed the Lady Morag still possesses the famous Brooch of Lorn wrested from Robert the Bruce at the Battle of Dalrigh in 1306. dqw 20080412
