H.E. Msgr. Antonio de Castro Mayer was born 20 June 1904 and for many years was the diocesan Bishop of Campos, Brazil. When the mainstream Catholic Church went conciliar after Vatican 2, he and his diocese stayed traditional, perhaps the only diocese in the world to do so. He was asked in retirement by Abp Marcel Lefebvre, founder of the Society of St. Pius X ( SSPX), if he would assist as a co-consecrator. Bishop de Castro Mayer agreed and as served as the co-consecrator of the four current SSPX bishops in June 1988. He died on 25 April 1991, age 87. dqw 20100123
