Boswell Bookplate
A lovely new bookplate recently received by Wm. Boswell of Toberchurn rendered by Gordon MacPherson of Canada, one of the world's most famous bookplate artists. The insignia is that of a Knight Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. The corner stars reflect that Order and the Most Venerable Order's Maltese Cross. The inscription reads from Latin as ORD EQ = of the equestrian or knightly order; TRIB = tribune (in this case colonel); PRAEFEC MUNI = mayor; and DOC IUR = doctor of law (JD or Juris Doctor); in 2013 Col Boswell subsequently received an LLD (Legum Doctor = Doctor of Laws) honoris causa. dqw 20110811
