The Earldom of Crawford is the Premier Earldom in the Peerage of Scotland. The date of the Peerage is given as 1398 in the Union Roll of 1707 and given preference at that time as the senior Scottish Earldom which yet stands.
Of interest here is the rendition executed in 1906 by Graham Johnston, Heraldic Artist to the Lyon Office. He is considered one of the great heraldic artists of the first half of the twentieth century. The artist’s signature mark and initials may be viewed in the bottom left of the image.
