“Scottish Clan and Family Names” by Roddy Martine is an aide to anyone interested in Scots heraldry. Scottish Families are listed alphabetically and most of them have armorial Achievements beautifully illustrated in colour by Don Pottinger along with short family histories and tartans. In the back are standards of chiefs. 224 pages long, soft cover, the book can be purchased used on the internet for under £8 UK or $10 US. As a light research tool it is hard to beat.
